last minute gift idea...

If anyone out there wants to get me a (really nice) Christmas gift, I have a suggestion for you:

chloe

Aren't they gorgeous? I first noticed them on {this is glamorous}. They're from Chloe's 2011 Spring collection. Every year, there is a pair of shoes that I completely obsess over - last year were the cat print Miu Miu maryjanes (which I was able to find knock-offs of), the year before were the YSL cage heels (and I'm still kicking myself for not getting them when they went on sale). I think these Chloe pumps might be my shoe obsession for 2011. When I think of acrylic heels, the first thing that comes to mind are stripper shoes. But there's nothing cheap or stripper-y about these. They're very clean and modern, very Chloe. I love them because they're so versatile - they're funky enough to wear for an evening out and sophisticated enough to wear to work. They're perfect. Has anyone seen these for sale anywhere?

Hope everyone gets everything they wish for tomorrow! Merry Christmas!

over the knee boots

Over the knee boots have become very trendy and mainstream- and I'm not talking just for strippers and hookers. As long as you wear them appropriately (that means no super short, super tight skirts...), you can avoid looking cheap. I bought a pair last year that I love but are SO high that I can't wear them very often...or for very long. So, I've been on the lookout for flat(ter) over the knee boots that I would be comfortable wearing everyday if I wanted to.

If I didn't have to worry about money, these Loeffler Randall boots would be on my feet right now!! I love the slight wedge and the brown trim - so cute!

I can see these DVF boots with jeans tucked in and a crisp white button down ...and maybe a horse somewhere in the background. Don't they look very equestrian? They also look very well made and expensive - they're more affordable than the Loeffler Randall boots but still not in my price range...

Sam Edelman makes great shoes and this pair is fantastic. They're closer to my price range, but I'm not sure if its worth it to spend over $200 for a pair of synthetic boots.

This Via Spiga pair is very similar to the Sam Edelman ones and they're made of real leather. Still a little pricey though...close to $300...

...which is why I bought this pair from Dolce Vita! They're the same brand as my other over the knee boots, so I knew the quality would be good. They are suede which means that I can't wear them in the rain or snow, but I think the suede adds a nice texture. And the heel is perfect - comfortable enough to wear all day long but adds a bit of (much needed) height. And the best part - they were less than $100! I wore them yesterday and I love them!!

shoes, shoes, shoes

Last month I posted about my fake Miu Miu's. At the time, I had just purchased the black pair. Now, a few weeks later, I have 3 more pairs of new shoes! A bit excessive? I know. I know, I have such terrible self control. Especially when it comes to shoes. There's something about shoes that I can't resist. On their own, they're so sculptural and when worn they can really make an outfit.

This is the other pair I bought from Forever21. I wasn't sure I would like them once I saw them in real life, but they actually look well made. Definitely worth the $25 I paid for them :) And surprisingly, they are easier to walk in than the black ones. From what I can tell, they're exactly the same except for the print. Weird, huh?

The Miu Miu's that I really wanted were the cat print ones...and I found them on ebay!!! The less expensive, non-Miu Miu ones. But they look pretty close to the real thing:

I've become a big fan of the block heel and platform. They give me a lot of (much needed) height and are fairly comfortable. So I couldn't say no to these sandals from Top Shop:

my new miu miu's...er...forever 21 heels?!

Do you remember these Miu Miu platform mary-janes? I wanted a pair so badly (especially the pair with the cat print!!), but they sold out really quickly! Honestly, though, who am I kidding? Even if there was a pair left in my size, I can't justify spending over $600 on a pair of shoes right now (actually I'm not sure when I will be able to justify that...).

But now I have a pair and they only cost me $25.80! Okay, so they're not really Miu Miu's. They're actually from Forever 21 but the shape of the shoe is really close - if not identical- to the Miu Miu's! Here I am modeling them:

forever21

Remember, they are from Forever 21, so they're made of polyester and PVC. But for $25.80, I think I can deal. I wore them around the house last night to try to get used to the height (they have a 5 1/2" heel)...let's just say I won't be ready to wear them out this weekend. I'm pretty good in heels, but it's going to take some practice before I no longer feel like I'm going to topple over!

I also got this pair which were the same price...although I'm still not sure how I feel about them. I think the pattern is cute, but they could look really cheap in person. I should be getting them in the mail next week so I'll find out soon!

If you are one of the lucky ones that can actually afford the real thing (and are a size 9.5), there is one pair of blue satin Miu Miu mary-janes left on bluefly.com! They also have a pair of silver glittery mary janes and a pair of black satin ones. However, they don't have the platform, which to me makes the shoe. That and the amazing block heel.

he's like a totally important designer...

- You don't understand, this is an Alaia.
- An awhatta?
- He's, like, a totally important designer!
- And I will totally shoot you in the head.

Does anyone else remember this scene from Clueless?! Azzedine Alaia was an established, highly respected designer long before Clueless, but that was the first time I had ever heard of him. He's known for his ability to design clothes that expertly fit the female form, but my favorite are his accessories. I especially love his laser cut-out shoes and belts - so beautiful and intricate. Here are a few of my favorites:

If you are lucky enough to afford Alaia, these are available at Net-A-Porter.

These bootie beauties were photographed by Jak & Jil. I'm obsessed with them!!

Both belts also available at Net-A-Porter.
