a kick off for fashion week

Last night, Valanni hosted an unofficial kickoff party for Philadelpha Fashion Week which starts today. It was chilly last night so I was able to break out my faux fur vest! And my over-the-knee boots which I don't wear very often because they are really high and forces me to walk very slowly. So they only come out when I don't have to walk much.

There was a mini fashion show at the party with models in clothing from local boutiques. The theme was the 1950's and the models were styled in outfits that reflected the fashion of that era. I saw some really cute looks AND hairstlyles!

Love the dress, love the jewelery and really love those shoes:

A bit more edgy - very Olivia Newton-John in Grease:

Isn't this dress adorable? And so is her cute hat - wonder if it's vintage:

The party was fun. Maybe a little too fun...think I had one too many martinis. Oh - and can you believe someone stole my goodie bag?! I put it down under a counter with my vest on top and stepped away for a minute - and when I got back, it was gone! Luckily they didn't steal my vest...hmm, does that mean something?

So, like I said, Philadelphia Fashion Week starts today and it runs until Saturday. If you're interested in attending, you can get tickets here. The shows today and tomorrow are focused on the designs created by students from local design schools. The shows on Friday and Saturday will not only showcase local designers, but also the work of designers from around the world. You can look forward to more than just fashion if you attend a show, there will be video and art installations, musical and dance performances, and most importantly food:) And you can even shop while you're there (or if you're like me, it'll be window shopping) - local boutiques will set up mini shops on site.
